Privacy Policy

Covers Run to Learn on iOS and Android, version 1.5.1. Last updated 2 September 2026.

The short version

Run to Learn has no sign-up, no password and no email address to give. It does keep an anonymous account for you, created on the device the first time you open the game, and that account holds your coins, the costumes you own and the name you type for the daily board. You can delete it from inside the game in two taps. Ads come from Google and are always non-personalized. We run no analytics, no crash reporting and no server logs.

The anonymous account

The first time you play, the game asks our server for an account and stores two things on your phone: a random id and a secret that proves the account is yours. Nobody types anything, and neither is linked to your name, your email or your Google account. On iPhone, since version 1.5.1, the game also sends our server the signed record Apple keeps of your copy of the app, and the server stores the number in it beside your account. Apple issues that number once per Apple Account for this app. It tells us nothing about who you are and we cannot look you up by it; it is how a reinstall or a new iPhone finds the same account with no login.

Held against that account, on our server:

WhatWhyHow long
Your coin balance and the costumes and worlds you ownSo a purchase or a costume is not lost with the phoneUntil you delete the account
The name you type for the daily boardIt is shown to other players beside your rankUntil you delete the account
Your daily score, the day, how many answers you got right, and the lane you took at each gate — the server replays those moves to check the score and does not keep themTo rank the dayUntil you delete the account
A log of coins earned and spentSo the same reward cannot be claimed twice90 days, then deleted automatically
The receipt for a purchase, as the store issued itTo check the purchase is real before crediting itUntil you delete the account
Apple’s number for your copy of the app (iPhone, since version 1.5.1)So a reinstall or a new iPhone finds your account with no loginUntil you delete the account
A device-link code, if you ask for oneTo move an account to another phone by hand10 minutes
A report, if you report a name on the boardSo we can act on itUntil either account is deleted

The daily board shows other players the name you typed and your score, and nothing else. Names are filtered on our server before anyone sees them, and every row carries a Report control.

What stays on your phone

The game writes one settings file in its own storage and reads nobody else's: your best score for each difficulty, your difficulty and language, whether sound, music and haptics are on, how many sessions and runs you have played, whether you own Remove Ads, your coins and costumes, the name you typed, the account id and secret, and any coin changes not yet sent to the server. Since version 1.4 two more things live there: the reminder hour you chose, set as a local alarm on the phone with nothing sent anywhere, and the copy of your best score, streak and daily rank the home-screen widget draws, which rides the same backup as the settings file.

Deleting the app deletes that file. One part of it does travel, on purpose: so that your coins and costumes survive a new phone with no login, the file is included in Android’s Auto Backup and in your iCloud or device backup on iOS. That copy goes to your own Google or Apple account. We cannot read it. On iPhone the App Store record above does the same job without a backup.

What we do not collect

No name, email address, phone number or contacts. No location. No photos, camera or microphone. No analytics and no crash reporting of our own. Our server keeps no request logs and stores no IP addresses. Cloudflare hosts the server for us and sees each connection’s IP address in order to route it, on its own terms as our processor; we neither log it nor store it.

Where it is, and who processes it

The server, its database and its daily backups run on Cloudflare, in Cloudflare’s European region. Cloudflare is the only company that handles this data for us. Backups are kept as one file per day so an account can be recovered after a mistake, and each one is deleted automatically after 30 days. So a deleted account can persist in a backup taken before the deletion, for at most 30 days.

Ads

Ads come from Google AdMob. Every request the game makes is non-personalized, so Google chooses an ad from context rather than from a profile of your behaviour. To do that and to bill for it, Google’s SDK may collect device identifiers, whether an ad was shown or tapped, your IP address, which gives an approximate location, and diagnostic data about itself. It uses those to deliver ads, to cap how often you see the same one, and to catch fraud.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game shows you Google’s consent form the first time you open it, and a Privacy options row in the settings sheet reopens it whenever you want to change or withdraw that answer.

On iOS the game shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt, and on Android it asks for no tracking permission, because it does not follow you into other apps or websites and does not ask to. Android’s advertising ID reaches Google as part of an ad request; you can reset or delete it in the system settings and the game keeps working. Ad content is capped at the G rating in our AdMob settings. Google explains its own handling in the Google Privacy & Terms.

Buying Remove Ads stops the ads between runs. The optional video you can watch to revive a run stays available, because you choose to start it.

Purchases

Apple on iOS and Google Play on Android handle every purchase end to end. Your name, card and address never reach the game or us. What we receive is the receipt the store issues, which we check before crediting coins or Remove Ads. That check happens on our own server, offline, against a certificate we hold, so no receipt of yours is sent back to Apple or Google by us.

Children

Run to Learn is built for anyone practising mental arithmetic, and plenty of its players will be children. So behavioural targeting is off for everyone rather than for some, ad content is capped at the G rating, and the game asks for no personal information at any point. The one thing a player types is a board name, which is filtered on our server, and the settings sheet has a Report an ad row that opens a message to us with the app version already filled in.

If you are a parent and want the account and its board name gone, the delete route below removes it without needing to reach us.

Deleting everything

In the game: the gear at the top right of the home screen, then Delete account, then confirm. That removes the account, its coins and costumes, its board name and scores, its receipts and any reports, from our server.

Without the phone: the deletion page, or write to [email protected]. Because there is no login, an account can only be found by the board name it used, so an account that never typed one cannot be located once the phone is gone.

What the game never does

Changes

Any change to what the game collects gets written here, with the date at the top updated. If a change is significant, the app will say so before it takes effect.
